The World Heritage Gassho-zukuri Village of Gokayama

Hello, everyone!
I went to Gassho-zukuri Village of Gokayama in Toyama prefecture last weekend. It is declared a World Heritage site.

Thatched-roof houses called Gassho-zukuri are precious old farmhouse style which exist only in Gokayama and Shirakawa-go.These houses are said to have been built about 100 to 200 years ago, the oldest one built 400 years ago.

Actually, Iwent to Shirakawa-go village, it is the other Gassho-zukuri Village in Gifu prefecture several years ago. It is also a World Heritage site, but I prefer Gokayama as it is quiet and beautiful place, not so crowded by tourists.

I really enjoy to see the old style architectural design.
Highly recommended one of your winter sightseeing!
