Candy sculpture "Amezaiku"

Hi, everyone!

Some of you may have been to Tokyo sky tree, one of the famous land marks in Tokyo.

Tokyo sky tree is a television broadcasting tower with a height of 634 meters, and it is the tallest building in Japan.

It is in Sumida city where is close to Asakusa.

The day I visited was unfortunately raining so that I decided not to go up.

There was even a memo telling that you may not see clearly due to the bad weather at the entrance of the sky tree building.

Instead, I took a walk in Soramachi, a large shopping area with Sumida aquarium located at the base of the building.

Here, I found this amazing candy sculpture called ”amezaiku” in Japanese.

Amezaiku is a traditional Japanese folk art of sculpting candy into a variety of shapes as animals and other characters.

Look at this amazing golden fish created from the candy base which is prepared beforehand using a starchy syrup by the artist.

This guy is the amezaiku artist who makes all candies using his fingers with tools which is designed especially for amezaiku.

Amezaiku artists also paint their sculpted candy with edible dyes to give the finished work more character.

Here is a cute panda!

These are the traditional Japanese fans.

Can you believe they are all eatable candies?

They are too beautiful to eat.

Thanks for reading!

Have a nice rest of the week.
